Workplace Pre-Employment In-Cab Assessments

A pre-employment in-cab assessment is an excellent way to evaluate whether a driver can operate a vehicle and its associated machinery safely, correctly, and efficiently before employment begins. Class 2, 4 & 5 – Pre-Employment In-Cab Assessments

Conducted by NZTA-qualified driver trainers
Assessment Includes:

• Pre-use inspection
• On-road driving (urban and highway)
• Load security (where applicable)
• Reversing (straight-line and 90-degree)
• Coupling and uncoupling (Class 5 only)
• Adherence to road rules and safety standards

Duration: Approx. 60–90 minutes per assessment
Feedback & Reporting: Immediate feedback to the driver; a formal report provided within 2–3 business days
Availability: Weekdays and weekends (subject to availability)
Cost: $180 + GST per assessment (without truck)

Ute & Van—Pre-Employment In-Cab Assessments

Focus Areas:

• Safe driving practices
• Pre-trip checks
• Load restraint (if applicable)
• Reversing techniques
• Driver behaviour and road awareness

Duration: Approx. 45–60 minutes per assessment
Suitable For: Company vehicle compliance or pre-employment driver checks
Cost: $195 + GST per assessment

Optional Driver Training (If required)

• Using your company vehicle: $115 + GST per driver
• Using a Mak Driving Academy vehicle: Pricing may vary—please contact us for a quote

Note:
A minimum of two drivers is required per booking.
